Photoshoot for EMC Insurance's Circuit magazine
This month’s edition of EMC Insurance’s Circuit magazine features some of my photography. The cover designed by Holly Illg features my photo of the Shattered Silence sculpture. The table of contents page features my photo of one of Keith Haring’s sculptures in the Pappajohn Sculpture Park in Des Moines, Iowa.
The feature story uses a photo of Lonnie Dafney taken by my coworker Steve McTee.
Here is an earlier test shot before it hit golden hour along with some of the sculpture shots I edited.
Ryker turned 7!
Arkansas Road Trip
Last week we took the kids on a road trip to Arkansas. We stayed in a cabin near the Arkansas Grand Canyon and the Ozark National Forest. We hiked, played in streams and waterfalls and did some cave tours.

Fire School at Urbandale Fire Department
I work as a designer and photographer for EMC Insurance and I just got back from a really fun photo shoot with the Urbandale Fire Department. The EMC Reinsurance department brings some brokers to an evening of fire school. They suited up, sprayed fire hoses, tested fire extinguishers and saved rescue mannequins from a “burning” test building.

Family Trip to Maui
A Keen Eye Home Inspection
I built this site at the beginning of the year for a local home inspector. It’s a new business that already had a logo, business cards and flyers so I built out the brand a little more with the website, social media, and a photo shoot with the owner inspecting my house.
Tropical Flower Painting
My wife recently redesigned our bedroom so I painted over the old canvas from our old house. She found this embroidered pillow and bought the coral paint based off of that. I used the Bird of Paradise pillow as inspiration for my painting and used some of the wall paint as well.
Pokemon Painting: Mew
I’m not a painter but I like to try to make the art in my house. My son Ryker has a half Pokemon, half Super Mario room so I asked him what his favorite pokemon are. Mew was the easiest for me and as you can see in the gif, it took me a lot of attempts. I had fun with it, he loves it, and it looks pretty good from a distance :)

I started a let’s play/game streaming channel for Ryker about a month ago. He really likes watching people playing Nintendo games so I have been figuring out the gear I needed and how to do it. Next, I will figure out how to do it well!
In this show I invited my friends at Super Media All Stars to play the new Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch. Me and Ryker had never played before so we had fun failing and watching the other guys smash it up.
