United Way theme for EMC Insurance

October 1, 2021

I designed the new theme for our United Way charity fundraiser at EMC Insurance. I also made some zoom backgrounds since it was a virtual event this year. We raised more than $300,000 for United Way of Central Iowa!

Secured Futures of Iowa logo design

May 20, 2015

A past client came to me with a logo design job for a new project he is doing legal work for.

Secured Futures is an endeavor created by Bill Berg, a financial planner. He has a special needs child and he is now specializing in special needs financial planning.

Their web developer sent me this concept to start with.

I started with the concept and tried to work in a family as well as the Iowa flag in the icon.

early draft of my logo design

I refined the curves of the illustration and dropped the Iowa flag theme to make it friendlier to match the website design.

Final logo design

The client loved it. I will update this post with the site design and a link once it goes live.

Update: Their developer finished the website. Check it out at securedfuturesia.com

I designed the digital/animated ads and Hayley designed the print ads. I also designed the logo because the client didn't have a consistent one. I based it off the look of their building and used neon letters because the locals know them by their neon sign.

Mid-Valley Open House Weekend Campaign

March 27, 2015

For a recent campaign at work I designed a logo for an Open House Weekend that will be used on print, digital, landing page, HTML5 ads, and an email blast. Me and my partner Katie were inspired by some design styles from the Portland, Oregon area that this is for. We used some evergreen trees, birds, woodgrain and some unique filters on the photography. Check out the animated ad at the link below!

Last month I helped my friends at RXA Technology with their event called Base 3. I designed the logo and icons for their site. Check it out and you can read more in the press release below.

PRESS RELEASE

RXA Technology is proud to announce Base 3 – a one-night entrepreneurial speaking event featuring Dan Wubbena, Crowd Funding Expert, Karla Santi, Creative Director and Partner at Blend Interactive, and Lance Morgan, CEO Ho Chunk, Inc. The event will take place on October 1. Tickets are free and available at rxatechnology.com/base3.
Launch Week, a week full of entrepreneurship events in the Siouxland area, will take place between September 30Day hosted by Sioux City Go on September 30. Coworking will follow and Wire Me Awake will be the final event taking place on Wednesday and Thursday.
Springboard Coworking is located on the 2nd floor of the Stifel Nicolaus building at 700 4th Street. The workspace has 11 desks spread over 1,466 sq. feet. Each desk is available for rent on a monthly or contract basis. Each full-time desk is outfitted with a chair and a two-drawer filing cabinet that locks. RXA Technology and Springboard Coworking are teaming up to put on the Base 3 event with hopes to ignite the startup community in Sioux City. Sean Richardson, the co-founder of RXA says, “The startup movement in Sioux City is really starting to pick up. Organizations such as Creative Fire, Sioux City Chamber, Sioux City Go, and the City of Sioux City are at the forefront of this movement. There are many entrepreneurial events in Siouxland, such as Swimming with the Sharks, Biz Brew, Innovation Market and Wire Me Awake, but I can see many more popping up.”
Co Founder of RXA Technology and junior at Morningside College Blake Anderson added, “Sioux City has been such a giving community. Being from California and not from the area, I have been blessed to meet great supportive people. A strong entrepreneurial community is beginning to form in Sioux City. I am proud to say I am a part of this movement.”

DOOM SUSHI

August 10, 2013

This is a logo I designed for fun. I was trying to create a logo for a sushi restaurant in Des Moines, Iowa. Originally it was DSM instead of DOOM. DSM is the abbreviation of Des Moines. Then I came up with this better idea with the 2 sushi rolls.

Ump's Eye View logo design

July 22, 2013

I created this logo for Chris with Rockstar Satellite. He hosts a couple radio shows at his DIRECTV ZONE store at Merle Hay Mall and this logo was created for one of the possible shows. It hasn't been used yet, but I wanted to share it anyways. The only thing I would improve on now would be the eyeball/baseball. The idea behind this is based on the name Ump's Eye View. The eyeball represents the ump's eye looking across the baseball diamond. I think either of the two color options can work. Let me know what you think in the comments.
